Connection

My parents grew up in the Philippines, carrying deep connections to their land and waters ‘sa kanilang lupa at tubig.’

Like many immigrant families, my parents came to Canada in search of a ‘better life.’

My pamilya connected with Turtle Island with deep respect through the practice of navigating local shorelines, growing vegetables in community gardens, and camping among the trees.

- Achieved 120 consecutive month, 10 year goal to surf a Great Lake wave in February 2014-Feb 2024
